Online Grief Counselling (Telehealth via Zoom)

I have over 10 years of experience in providing grief counselling and support to adults, children and young people following the death of a family member or friend. I began this part of my career working with bereaved parents and siblings after the death of a child or teenager from cancer. I went on to provide individual bereavement counselling and group support to family members after the death of an adult. In this role I developed extensive experience in working with grieving spouses and partners, sons and daughters, siblings and friends of all ages. The qualifications and study I have done set the foundations for the work I do. And, working with hundreds of bereaved people over the last ten years has allowed me to gather the wisdom of a wide range of people who have navigated the many challenges that can accompany a bereavement.

Online grief counselling or telehealth counseling may help you to address a range of challenges including:

  • Feeling like grief is not getting better or getting worse over time
  • Feeling unsure about what is ‘normal’ in grief and how best to manage the challenges of bereavement
  • Persistent and distressing memories of an illness or death
  • Feeling stuck with confusing or difficult emotions such as anger or guilt
  • Managing missing and longing for the person who has died
  • Questioning how best to support parents, partners or children who are grieving
  • Addressing unhelpful or concerning coping strategies
  • Loss of meaning and purpose
  • Feeling unsupported by those around you
  • Grief for someone who you had a difficult or abusive relationship with
  • Navigating practical challenges such as what to do with someone’s belongings or where to scatter ashes
  • Managing complex family relationships, including disputes around inheritance
  • Uncertainty around how to navigate anniversaries and special occasion
  • Questions around re-partnering

There is strong evidence that psychological therapy delivered online is just as effective as face-to-face, which is good news for those unable to attend in person. This is especially the case with current government advice about physical distancing.

As a specialist counsellor I am very experienced in providing online services to clients who live in regional areas, interstate or overseas. I am able to offer Skype or Zoom sessions at a time to suit you.
