Theories and Techniques for Supporting People in Grief

Do you work with people experiencing grief following a bereavement?


Do you want to learn strategies and skills so that you can confidently support someone who is grieving?


In this live webinar I'm partnering with another specialist grief counsellor, Wendy Liu from The Session, to answer your questions.  Between us, we have over 30 years of experience in grief and bereavement counselling. We'll share with you some of the knowledge and skills we find most effective in our work with patients and clients.


In this session we discuss:

  • the impacts of grief (physical, cognitive, emotional, social, spiritual)
  • using theories of grief in practice
  • assessing and responding to needs and risks
  • creative ways to support someone who is grieving
  • counselling strategies for working with powerful emotions (e.g. guilt and anger)
  • self-care in the context of working with death, dying and grief


There is also a live question and answer session.


This session is suitable for counsellors, social workers, death doulas, nurses, doctors, chaplains, volunteers, mental health and allied health professionals who want to build their confidence in understanding and responding to people experiencing grief following a bereavement. Copies of the slides, a reference list and attendance certificates will be provided.
